Lewis supports individuals' Right to Try
WASHINGTON D.C. - Congressman Jason Lewis (MN-02) issued the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 5247, The Right to Try Act, as it passed the House last night.
“When our friends and family are faced with life-threatening illnesses, we all want them to have every opportunity to get well. The Right to Try Act gives individuals access to potentially life-saving medicines when other options are exhausted and when these medicines have already passed preliminary safety tests under the FDA. Many states, including Minnesota, already passed laws that let our friends and family try these possibly lifesaving treatments. We don’t need Washington bureaucrats needlessly getting in the way of patients fighting for their lives. We should stand up for those facing the most challenging moments of their lives, and that’s why I support their ‘right to try’ any available treatments.”
