WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Jason Lewis (MN-02) issued the following statement after Senate Democrats ended their filibuster of the Continuing Resolution funding the government through February 8, and renewing the Children’s Health Insurance Program for six years:

“Today the American people won as Senate Democrats finally backed away from their shutdown and joined Republicans to fund the government and support CHIP & a delay to the medical device tax. While there was no need for the government to shut down this weekend, I am glad that people across Minnesota sent a clear message that shutdowns over unrelated immigration issues are entirely the wrong way to govern and benefit no one. I look forward to finalizing government funding, working on a deal for young people on DACA, and getting back to Minnesota!”
