WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Jason Lewis (MN-02) issued the following statement regarding new Department of Justice guidance for federal marijuana enforcement policy:

“As I’ve said before, especially in regard to medical marijuana, the federal government has no business sending in the FBI and Department of Justice to prosecute people in full compliance with their own state’s law. Congress has previously passed legislation as it pertains to marijuana, prohibiting the enforcement of federal laws that infringe on the sovereignty of the states. That’s federalism, and I have always supported those efforts—but unfortunately, they’ve recently been blocked. I’ll keep working with Republicans and Democrats in the House to make sure Minnesota’s laws are respected.”
