WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jason Lewis (MN-02) issued the following statement after voting for the House-Senate conference report on the National Defense Authorization Act, H.R. 2810:

“I’m grateful to the thousands of Minnesotans who risk their lives every day to defend our freedom. Our troops deserve a pay raise, and this bill gives it to them. I’ll always stand with men and women in uniform to ensure military readiness and to get them the equipment they need.

“In an era of cybersecurity risks and rogue states developing nuclear missiles, I’m glad that we provide resources today to focus more on these significant threats. To do that properly, we have to know that the Pentagon is spending taxpayer dollars where they are needed most. While the NDAA makes some much needed acquisition and spending reforms, I’ve been very clear that more needs to be done to use our resources in the best way possible. My Defense Spending Accountability Act, H.R. 2040, would audit the Pentagon and ensure that our troops are being well-served and that we prioritize military readiness.”
