Lewis statement on Minnesota's reinsurance waiverWASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Jason Lewis (MN-02) issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Minnesota’s waiver for the Premium Support Program: “I'm glad that CMS has responded to Minnesota's waiver request under Obamacare's section 1332, and I'll keep working alongside my delegation colleagues to further address the instability in Minnesota's market. But this is a symptom of a much larger problem--the law itself. “Democrats rammed Obamacare through without reading it. The unbelievably complicated Obamacare bill was so destined to destroy healthcare markets that HHS--starting under the law's own architects like Kathleen Sebelius-- granted over 1200 waivers by 2012--in many cases outright favors to certain states, companies, unions, or collections of companies in a given representative’s district. “I will continue to work so that Minnesota has as many options as possible under this demonstrably failed experiment. But make no mistake, Obamacare is not good government and it strains credulity that so many of the law's defenders remain steadfast in obstructing real reform.” |
